Bio

Angela Hinz-Marica is a Romanian-born, Germany-based film and media composer whose work blends orchestral and electronic palettes with a growing interest in spacious, minimalistic writing.

Angela’s recent projects include the award-winning Wingman: An X-Wing Story (Best Score, Fourth of May Film Festival 2024, co-composed with Subhang Narasimhan) and Willow’s Descent: Into the Under, a narrative video game released on Steam in November 2025. She is currently expanding her portfolio across film, games, and short-form media while refining a distinctive sound rooted in atmosphere and emotional clarity.

Her path to composing began long before her first credits. Born into a family of musicians in Romania, Angela started playing piano at seven. Despite her classical education, she often found herself improvising instead of practicing — a habit that would later become central to her creative voice. After moving abroad, she studied classical piano performance in France and Germany, earning her Master of Music degree from the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf.

Curiosity eventually drew her beyond classical traditions. Angela began experimenting with electronic music and composition, which led her to pursue advanced studies in Film Scoring and Production at the Musicube Academy in Bonn. Since then, she has developed a personal musical language shaped not only by her classical foundation, contemporary composers, and film music, but also by the eclectic sounds that catch her ear — from TV and film scores to unexpected musical moments in everyday life. Rather than following a single genre, she lets curiosity guide her, absorbing what resonates and shaping it into music that is versatile, atmospheric, and emotionally engaging.

Angela is a member of Women in Film and Television (WIFT Germany) and the Alliance for Women Film Composers (AWFC). She lives in Düsseldorf with her husband and two children.
